This past Christmas, Mr. Disorganized and I had a true epiphany. It stemmed from an unforeseen financial situation, but an epiphany none the less.
We decided to cut our holiday budget by half.
It was the best decision we could have made.
Rather than buying many of the gifts for those on our list, I made them. Not only did everyone love their presents, but it felt good to give from the heart. It also gave me a sense of accomplishment and a certain level of satisfaction that I didn't expect.
In keeping with this theme, I have started making Valentine gifts as well. The other day I made these felt hearts.
Today I have Chocolate Rice Crispy Hearts.
Just a slight twist on the classic, but a twist I think you'll enjoy!

Here's all you need:
- 7 1/2 Tbsp butter
- 8 oz bag of Kraft Jet Puffed Chocolate Royale Marshmallows
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 5 1/2 cups crispy rice cereal
Here's all you do:
- Spray a 9x13 pan with non-stick cooking spray {I used a 9x11 pan for thicker treats}
- Melt butter and marshmallows on LOW heat, stirring occasionally
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla
- Stir in crispy rice cereal until well coated
- With the back of a buttered spoon, press into prepared pan.
- Let cool
- Remove from pan and cut out heart shapes using a cookie cutter
- Dip into melted candy coating and add desired sprinkles
- Let candy coating cool and harden on wax paper
Enjoy!
